TOEIC Listening & Reading

The TOEIC Listening & Reading Test is a paper-and-pencil, multiple-choice questions test. There are two separately timed sections of 100 questions each and the test takes 2 hours to complete.

Part I: Listening Section (45 minutes)
Examinees listen to a variety of questions and short conversations recorded in English, then answer questions based on what they heard. The test format includes:
Photographs 10 Questions
Question-Response 30 Questions
Short Conversations 30 Questions
Short Talks 30 Questions
Part II: Reading Section (75 minutes)
Test-takers read a variety of materials and respond at their own pace to questions based on the content. The test format includes:
Incomplete Sentences 40 Questions
Text Completion 12 Questions
Reading Comprehension
. Single passage
. Double passage
28 Questions
20 Questions

Starting from April 2018, The Public test session KL, Penang, and Johor Bahru will use the new format. The other test session is still using the current format. Bellow is the updated TOEIC format

TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test

The TOEIC Speaking & Writing Test is a pre-scheduled, online, computer-based test which can be taken together as one test or can be taken as two separate tests, TOEIC Speaking Test Only and TOEIC Writing Test Only. The TOEIC Speaking & Writing Test is a 1 hour and 20 minutes test. The TOEIC Speaking Only test takes 20 minutes to complete and the TOEIC Writing Only test takes 1 hour to complete. Please find below the details of both tests.

TOEIC Speaking Test

The TOEIC Speaking test includes 11 questions that measure different aspects of test-takers’ speaking ability. Please refer to the following table for more details.

Part I: Task is to read a text aloud [2 Questions]
Test-taker reads aloud a short text, such as an announcement or advertisement. Test-taker is given 45 seconds to respond to each question with a preparation time of 45 seconds also given for each question.
Part II: Task is to describe a picture [1 Question]
Test-taker gives a verbal description of a photograph. Test-taker is given 45 seconds to respond to the question with a preparation time of 30 seconds.
Part III: Task is to respond to questions [3 Questions]
Test-taker responds to questions on a commonplace topic, as if responding in an interview. Test-taker is given 15 or 30 seconds to respond to each question and NO preparation time is given.
Part IV: Task is to respond to questions using information provided [3 Questions]
Test-taker responds to questions based on written information (such as a schedule of events) that appears on the screen. Test-taker is given 15 or 30 seconds to respond to each question and NO preparation time is given.
Part V: Task is to propose a solution [1 Question]
Test-taker listens to a voice mail message describing a problem and gives a response. In the response, the test-taker indicates recognition of the problem and proposes a solution. Test-taker is given 60 seconds to respond to the question with a preparation time of 30 seconds.
Part VI: Task is to express an opinion [1 Question]
Test-taker expresses an opinion about a specific topic and the reasons for that opinion. Test-taker is given 60 seconds to respond to the question with a preparation time of 15 seconds.

 

TOEIC Writing Test

TOEIC Writing test is composed of 8 questions to measure test-takers’ writing ability. Please refer to the following table for more details.

Part I: Task is to write a sentence based on a picture [5 Questions]
Test-taker writes one sentence based on a picture, using the two words or phrases provided. Test-taker is given 8 minutes to complete all 5 questions.
Part II: Task is to respond to a written request [2 Questions]
Test-taker reads an e-mail message which is about 25 to 50 words long, and writes an e-mail in response. Test-taker is given 10 minutes for each question to be answered.
Part III: Task is to write an opinion essay [1 Question]
Test-taker writes an essay expressing an opinion on the topic providing, giving reasons or examples to support the opinion. Test-taker is given 30 minutes to complete this section of the test.

 

TOEIC Bridge

The TOEIC Bridge Test is a paper-and-pencil, multiple-choice questions test. There are two separately timed sections of 50 questions each and the test takes 1 hour to complete.

Part I: Listening Section (25 minutes)
Examinees listen to a variety of recorded statements, questions and short conversations in English, then answer questions based on what they heard. The test format includes:
Photographs 15 Questions
Question-Response 20 Questions
Short Conversations & Short Talks 15 Questions
Part II: Reading Section (35 minutes)
Test-takers read single sentences and respond at their own pace to questions based on the content. The test format includes:
Incomplete Sentences 30 Questions
Reading Comprehension 20 Questions
